General Chiropractic Care
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes – chiropractic is one of the safest forms of healthcare available. It is non-invasive, drug-free, and has an excellent safety record backed by decades of research. At Culture Chiropractic, every adjustment is specific, intentional, and tailored to the individual – whether that’s a newborn, a pregnant mama, or a grandparent.
What conditions do you treat?
We work with a wide range of conditions including neck and back pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, disc issues, hip and shoulder pain, postural dysfunction, and nervous system dysregulation. We also provide wellness and preventative care for families who want to stay healthy proactively – not just react when something goes wrong.
How do I know if I need a chiropractor?
If your body isn’t functioning the way it should – whether that means pain, poor sleep, low energy, frequent illness, or just a general feeling that something is off – it’s worth coming in for an evaluation. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from chiropractic care. Many of our patients come in feeling fine and leave feeling extraordinary.
Do adjustments hurt?
Most patients find adjustments to be a relief – not painful. you may hear a popping sounds, which is simply gas releasing from the joint, and feel immediate reduction in tension or discomfort. Some patients experience mild soreness after their first few visits as the body begins to adapt, similar to how muscles feel after a good workout. We always work within your comfort level and adjust our technique to suit you.
What is Torque Release Technique?
Torque release Technique is one of the most advanced and research-backed chiropractic techniques available. Rather than manual manipulations, TRT uses a small handheld instrument called an Integrator to deliver a precise, gentle adjustment to the spine. It is especially effective for nervous system-focused care and is safe for patients of all ages – including newborns and pregnant women. Both Dr. Ross and Dr. Stephanie are certified in TRT.
What is SOT® Pediatric Chiropractic?
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT®) Pediatric is a specialized approach to chiropractic care designed specifically for infants and children. It uses extremely gentle, low force techniques to assess and correct the spine and cranial system. Dr. Ross is SOT® Pediatric Certified, bringing an additional layer of expertise to the care of our youngest patients.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No referral needed. You can schedule directly with us – just book online or give us a call or text.
How many visits will I need?
That depends entirely on you – your health history, your goals, and how your body responds to care. After your first visit and Report of Findings, we’ll give you an honest, personalized recommendation. We don’t lock anyone into a plan that doesn’t make sense for their life and their body.
Can chiropractic care help with more than just back pain?
Absolutely. Your spine houses your nervous system, which controls every function in your body – from digestion to immunity to sleep to mood. When there is interference in the nervous system, it can show up in ways that seem completely unrelated to your back. Chiropractic care addresses the root cause, not just the symptom, which is why our patients often report improvements in areas they weren’t even expecting.
Prenatal Chiropractic
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Yes – and it is highly recommended. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe, gentle, and incredibly beneficial for both mom and baby. Both Dr. Ross and Dr. Stephanie are Webster Technique Certified and have advanced training in prenatal care. We use specialized pregnancy pillows and positioning so you can be adjusted comfortably at any stage of pregnancy – yes, even the third trimester.
What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment developed for pregnant women. It focuses on reducing tension in the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding ligaments to create balance and optimal function in the pelvis. A balanced pelvis supports the baby’s ability to move into the ideal position for birth and helps mama feel more comfortable throughout pregnancy. Both Dr. Ross and Dr. Stephanie are Webster Technique certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).
When should I start prenatal chiropractic care?
The earlier the better – we love seeing mamas in their first trimester before the physical demands of pregnancy really ramp up. That said, it is never too late. Many patients come to us in their third trimester and still experience significant relief and benefit. Wherever you are in your pregnancy, we can help.
Can chiropractic help with baby positioning?
Webster Technique care supports optimal pelvic alignment and reduces tension in the uterine ligaments, which can create more space and freedom of movement for baby. While chiropractic does not manually move the baby, removing restrictions in the pelvis and surrounding structures gives baby the best environment to settle into a favorable position naturally.
Can chiropractic help with common pregnancy discomforts?
Yes. We regularly help mamas find relief from low back pain, hip pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, pubic symphysis dysfunction, rib pain, and general discomfort that comes with a growing belly. Pregnancy doesn’t have to feel like something you just survive. You deserve to feel well throughout the entire journey.
Is chiropractic care safe in the first trimester?
Yes. We see mamas throughout all three trimesters. Early pregnancy care can be especially beneficial for establishing pelvic balance from the start and supporting the nervous system through the significant hormonal and physical changes of early pregnancy.
Pediatric Chiropractic
Is chiropractic safe for babies and newborns?
Yes — pediatric chiropractic is extremely safe and gentle. The force used to adjust a newborn is no more pressure than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato. Our doctors are specifically trained in pediatric chiropractic technique and have adjusted thousands of babies and children, including their own. Newborns are actually some of our favorite patients.
Why would a baby need to see a chiropractor?
The birth process — even a straightforward, uncomplicated delivery — places significant stress on a newborn’s spine and nervous system. Tension in the upper cervical spine is extremely common in newborns and can contribute to a range of challenges including difficulty latching, colic, reflux, poor sleep, and general fussiness. A gentle chiropractic assessment and adjustment in the early days of life can make an enormous difference in how a baby feels and functions.
What does a pediatric adjustment feel like?
For infants, an adjustment is incredibly gentle — most babies sleep right through it or hardly notice. For toddlers and older kids, adjustments are adapted to their size, age, and temperament. We take our time, let kids get comfortable, and make the experience as fun and positive as possible. Many of our pediatric patients actually look forward to their adjustments.
Can chiropractic help with colic, reflux, or ear infections?
Many parents bring their babies in for exactly these concerns and are amazed by the results. Tension in the nervous system and spine can interfere with the normal function of digestion, the Eustachian tubes, and the immune system. By removing that interference, the body is better able to regulate and heal itself. We always recommend consulting with your pediatrician alongside chiropractic care, and we love working as part of a collaborative care team.
At what age can a child start chiropractic care?
Day one. Seriously — we have checked and adjusted babies within hours of birth. There is no age too young to have their spine and nervous system assessed. The earlier we can support healthy development, the better the foundation for a lifetime of health.
Can chiropractic help with my child's posture, focus, or recurring illness?
These are some of the most common reasons parents bring school-age kids in — and yes, chiropractic can absolutely support all three. Poor posture from heavy backpacks and screen time, difficulty with focus and attention, and a seemingly endless cycle of colds and ear infections can all have a nervous system component. We look at the whole child and work to optimize their function from the inside out.
Do you see teenagers?
Absolutely. Teens are going through significant spinal changes during growth spurts, often carrying heavy loads, sitting for long hours, and dealing with the physical and emotional stress of adolescence. Chiropractic care during the teen years supports healthy spinal development, athletic performance, and nervous system balance.
Visiting Culture Chiropractic
What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit is about 45 minutes and includes a thorough health history consultation, postural analysis, any necessary X-rays (or a digital postural analysis for our pregnant mamas) and a comprehensive chiropractic exam. In many cases we will begin care on that same visit. You will leave with a clear understanding of what we found and what comes next. Your second visit — the Report of Findings — is about 30 minutes and is where we review everything in detail and build your personalized care plan together. Regular visits after that are about 5-15 minutes — focused, specific, and efficient.
How long are appointments?
Your first visit is 45 minutes, your Report of Findings is 30 minutes, and regular ongoing visits are usually about 15 minutes.
Do you accept insurance?
At Culture Chiropractic, we are an out-of-network provider — and that’s actually a good thing for you. By not directly billing insurance companies, we are able to keep our prices lower, spend more time with each patient, and focus entirely on the care you need rather than what an insurance plan will or won’t approve.
We make quality care accessible in every way we can:
- Superbills: We provide detailed superbills you can submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits.
- HSA/FSA: We gladly accept Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account cards.
- CareCredit: We work with CareCredit to offer flexible financing options so cost is never a barrier to getting the care your family deserves.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, casual clothing you can move in. You’ll be doing some simple movement and range of motion testing, so leave the pencil skirt or dress pants at home. Athleisure is always welcome here.
Can I bring my kids to my appointment?
Of course — this is a family practice in every sense of the word. We love when the whole crew comes in together. Our office is set up with families in mind, and our team genuinely loves kids.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
We do our best to accommodate urgent needs. Text or call us and we’ll do everything we can to get you in quickly.
Where are you located?
We are located in Chandler, Arizona just south of the Chandler Airport and proudly serve families from across the East Valley and beyond including Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Maricopa, San Tan Valley, Coolidge and more.
Do you see the whole family?
That’s exactly what we’re here for. We see patients from day one of life — newborns, kids, teens, adults, expecting mamas, postpartum women, and dads.
Who are the doctors?
Culture Chiropractic is owned and operated by Dr. Ross Benz DC and Dr. Stephanie Benz DC — a husband and wife team with over 10 years of combined experience and three kids of their own. They bring advanced training, genuine passion, and a deeply personal understanding of family health to every patient they see. You can learn more about them here.
What makes Culture Chiropractic different?
A few things, honestly. We specialize in prenatal and pediatric care — areas that require specific training, advanced technique, and a particular kind of patience that not every chiropractor has. We take the time to actually understand you before we ever adjust you. We tell you the truth about what we can and can’t help with. And we genuinely care — not just about your spine, but about your whole family’s health and life. We’ve been told more than once that walking into our office feels different. We work hard every day to make sure that’s true.
